REI Presents | Feel of Vision
Curating a visual story of perseverance and power.
After losing his eyesight in a 1997 hunting accident, former Navy Petty Officer Lonnie Bedwell became the first blind person to ever whitewater kayak the entire length of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in a solo kayak. We developed a video for REI as a glimpse into Lonnie’s story as he awakens to a whole new world engaging blind paddlers in exciting adventures amidst the spray and white foam of the Ohioplye and Yellowstone wilderness. A multi-award-winning film from Blueline Pictures, the documentary puts on display the drive of one man set out to overcome life’s crazy currents. The picture delivers the true story of one person creating a vision for many who have perceivably powerful journeys ahead.

“Elsewhere in the festival, several films burrowed beneath the surface of their subjects in illuminating ways. One surefire Oscar hopeful screening out of the main competition was Tucker Gragg and Austin Gardner’s “Feel of Vision,” a stunning doc about a blind kayaker instructing other wounded veterans on how to navigate their way through white water rapids, refusing to be defined by the absence of their eyesight.”
